Die Abk\u00fcrzung MRP steht per Definition f\u00fcr Material Requirements Planning<\/strong> und beinhaltet somit s\u00e4mtliche Ma\u00dfnahmen f\u00fcr eine optimierte Materialbedarfsplanung<\/strong>. Dementsprechend dienen MRP-Systeme der Mengenplanung innerhalb eines computergest\u00fctzten Produktionsplanungs- und -steuerungssystems (PPS)<\/a> f\u00fcr einen mehrstufigen Produktionsprozess.<\/p>\n\n

Based on the planned throughput times and parts lists, the scheduled requirements of the upstream products are successively calculated from a defined production program. A batch size is created for each individual step, taking into account the planned stock levels. This professional quantity planning ensures the smooth creation of purchase and production orders, which would otherwise be unnecessarily complicated by a lack of awareness of capacity restrictions. <\/p>\n\n

What is behind MRP, MRPII and ERP?<\/h2>\n\n

What often causes confusion: In addition to MRP, there is also the concept of MRPII. The latter was developed by Oliver Wight and stands for Manufacturing Resource Planning. It serves the purpose of adding further levels to production program planning. So it all began with MRP systems, which served as the basis for the development of MRPII. These MRPII systems in turn gave rise to modern ERP systems as we know them today. Nevertheless, most ERP systems still show remnants of the “old” material requirements planning. Even Distribution Requirements Planning (DRP) and systems for Advanced Planning and Scheduling (APS) can be traced back to it. <\/p>\n\n

What are the advantages of professional MRP systems?<\/h2>\n\n

MRP systems are designed to ensure a cost-optimized and seamless material supply<\/strong>. For production, this means that there is always exactly as much replenishment available and as much is processed as is required in a predetermined period of time. If a company achieves almost perfect distribution here, it is operating in the field of lean production<\/strong>. This is based on the core principle of avoiding any form of waste by using production factors such as materials, personnel, operating resources, planning and organization as sparingly and time-efficiently as possible. The aim is to reduce costs while at the same time increasing production. A number of measures are required to achieve this. As part of successful planning, demand dates must first be determined. Here it is important to take into account the respective conditions on the procurement markets.
