Karlsruhe, 23.11.2023 – Making children’s eyes light up – it doesn’t really take much at Christmas time. But what if they lack the essentials and even a small gift becomes a financial challenge during Advent? In reality, this is unfortunately not uncommon: almost 200 children in the Karlsruhe-Durlach area alone are currently dependent on support. For Asseco Solutions, which is also based in Karlsruhe, this was reason enough to organize this year’s Christmas campaign in cooperation with the Durlacher Tafel. Yesterday, November 22, the employees of the ERP specialist filled Christmas gym bags with various treats and a small surprise. Asseco board member Sascha Wellershoff handed over the packed Christmas presents to the charitable organization today.

“Christmas is the celebration of children – and the fact that some children are unable to experience this magic due to a lack of financial resources is something we cannot accept,” emphasizes Sascha Wellershoff. “I am therefore delighted that we are doing something good locally, on our doorstep so to speak, with this year’s Christmas campaign. Most of us can’t imagine the challenges that children from disadvantaged families face on a daily basis. It was therefore also a personal concern for me to contribute to giving them at least a little Christmas joy with our gift. I am delighted that so many of our colleagues have actively helped out as industrious Christmas elves. I hope the gift packages will bring a smile to the children’s faces – because that’s what Christmas is all about for me.”
Voluntary help for those in need
The wrapped gifts are received and distributed by the Durlacher Tafel. It has been collecting surplus food and hygiene products and passing them on to people in need since 2007. A good 50 volunteers currently support around 1,000 people in the Durlach area. The charitable organization’s services are aimed at people living on the edge of subsistence, single parents, low-income families, pensioners, people in need and various social institutions.
