Karlsruhe, 14.10.2025 – The ERP system is the central backbone of daily processes. The efficiency with which users work in the respective solution therefore also plays a decisive role in overall operational efficiency: an appealing and targeted user experience has a significant influence on user motivation and therefore productivity. What modern ERP systems do to maximize their user experience against this background was examined by the “Center for Enterprise Research” at the University of Potsdam as part of the renowned industry award “ERP System of the Year”. At the award ceremony yesterday evening in Frankfurt am Main, the prize for the “User Experience ERP” category went to Karlsruhe-based ERP specialist Asseco Solutions. With its innovative “Flow Mode” operating concept, its APplus solution offers customers a completely new, process-oriented way of working in the ERP world.

“In order to meet today’s increasing range of requirements, modern ERP systems must provide an ever wider range of functions,” emphasizes Ralf Bachthaler, member of the Management Board of Asseco Solutions. “To ensure that this doesn’t end in a huge chaos of complexity, it falls to us manufacturers to find ways to keep user-friendliness high despite the ‘power’ of the systems. With our Flow Mode, we have developed a completely new concept to make the extensive possibilities of our solution simple, intuitive and clear to use – and, incidentally, to create the indispensable basis for the AI applications of the future. Against this backdrop, we are particularly pleased to receive the award in the ‘User Experience ERP’ category. It shows us that we have taken the right path with our innovative approach and motivates us to continue optimizing the UX of our solution with new innovations in the future.”
Rethinking user experience

APplus offers users a visual, process-oriented operating concept that guides them step by step and intuitively along the ideal path through their daily tasks. Navigation through complex ERP masks and data-heavy views is no longer necessary. As a result, central core processes can be handled much more quickly and easily. Thanks to the focus on the essentials, training and familiarization costs are reduced and substitutions are easily possible. Depending on the scenario, the defined process sequences can also be run through automatically by the system, relieving users of time-consuming routines. If a release is required, the relevant specialist actively receives a notification in the system that presents all the details of the release at a glance.
The digital mapping of processes also provides companies with a “process map” of their central core processes. This provides the essential basis that will enable artificial intelligence to navigate correctly through company processes in the future in order to work on tasks together with human users.
In general, the APplus interface is ergonomically designed throughout, has a strong visual focus and is intuitive to use. State-of-the-art AI is also used to optimize the user experience: the AI dashboards, for example, allow users to customize their central dashboard with over 1,000 AI-supported elements. If required, Elly Help provides users with context-sensitive support from a virtual assistant who can help with questions about the ERP system and how it works using text or voice without media disruption.
Industry award with tradition
The “ERP System of the Year” is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year. To determine the winners, the renowned panel of experts from the Center for Enterprise Research at the University of Potsdam evaluated the solutions in question based on a wide range of criteria, including the specific solution to the problem, the benefits for customers, architecture and standards, the respective implementation approach and existing collaborations and partnerships.
