For nearly 60 years now, August Steinmeyer in Albstadt has been manufacturing ball screws for high-precision applications in the machine tool market, medical technology, and the aerospace industry. A comprehensive ERP project provided the impetus for optimizing business processes and served as a catalyst for the further digital transformation of this medium-sized company.
The wide range of applications requires customized planning and design for virtually every single product. The previous ERP solution was no longer able to fully meet these requirements. With the large-scale APplus implementation project called “Impuls,” Steinmeyer laid the foundation for a massive push toward digitalization and clear operational benefits.
“The project name ‘Impuls’ was apt, since we viewed the entire project from the very beginning as a powerful catalyst for process improvement and digitalization, rather than as a purely IT project,” says Marco Beck, Head of Industrial Ball Screws at August Steinmeyer.

Key benefits include a continuous flow of quantities and values, improved planning in the face of limited capacity, early detection of variances, and greater on-time delivery. At the same time, manual tasks and the associated labor costs have been reduced.
