Karlsruhe, 26.09.2024 - The possibilities of large language models and generative AI will fundamentally change the ERP industry in the near future. The keynote speakers from Asseco Solutions left no doubt about this at this year's customer conference. At the end of the “Vision Days” in Karlsruhe, the Asseco experts showed what this means in practice. For the more than 600 participants, they gave an outlook on the possibilities that intelligent ERP will offer in the near future - and also held out the prospect of new AI functions for APplus: if desired, the solution will be able to automate entire process chains in the future. In addition, new AI assistants will enable an interactive exchange of APplus processes and data in natural language.Translated with DeepL.com (free version)
“Nowadays, innovation has become a competitive factor that significantly influences success: the current quantum leaps in the field of AI hold the potential to significantly increase the efficiency and productivity of our customers,” emphasizes Ralf Bachthaler, member of the Management Board of Asseco Solutions. “This is precisely the reason why we are acting as a pioneer for intelligent ERP and driving its further development forward with vigor. With APplus 8, we have succeeded in achieving a key innovation boost. It is the first solution to utilize the almost unlimited possibilities of AI with its process-based operating concept Flow Mode and its own process layer.”
Werner Hießl, Director Product & Cloud at Asseco Solutions, adds: “Artificial intelligence is becoming increasingly intertwined with the ERP world, enabling completely new ways of using it. However, if an AI is to interact with a company's processes, hallucinations would be fatal. To prevent this, AI needs a realistic map of the processes. It can use this to find its way around. Our process-oriented usage mode of APplus 8 delivers exactly that. This means that we - and therefore our customers - already have the ideal technical basis for making the intelligent ERP of the future a reality.”
Integrated utilization concepts connect man and machine
Building on this, APplus will soon offer customers the option of having the system automatically drive entire process chains on request. Until now, it has always been up to the user to actively start a specific process in process-oriented flow mode. In future, events such as the receipt of an email can also act as a trigger. The solution then runs through the defined process step by step and automatically performs the necessary actions in the system, such as creating a new order.
If decisions or input from a user are required, APplus stops the process and automatically notifies the employee responsible using a notification icon. The user's feedback in turn influences the further course of the process: Depending on whether the user approves or rejects an order, for example, APplus then runs through the other associated steps.
This integrated utilization concept lays the foundation for efficient collaboration between man and machine and accelerates the processing of central workflows in day-to-day business.
Intelligent assistants for data and processes
The intelligent chatbot “Ask.APplus” promises quick information on the functionality and operation of APplus. Instead of manually trawling through extensive documentation or making time-consuming support requests, users will soon be able to get immediate information on many APplus-related questions. For example, the chatbot explains how a specific task can be processed in the system. On request, Ask.APplus can refer to the relevant sections in the documentation so that users can also consult the original section.
Asseco Solutions also presented the prototype of the virtual assistant Elly. In future, she will support APplus users in natural language with a wide range of requests and tasks. In an initial application scenario, for example, it will be possible for employees from Controlling to send Elly queries about evaluations or key figures and receive information about them in natural language. Elly uses both the information available in APplus and generally available knowledge about industries, market developments or the economic situation.
Safety first and foremost
For all current and future AI functions in APplus, the security and confidentiality of data is paramount. The data required for the AI models used is processed exclusively on EU servers that comply with strict European data protection regulations. The company data remains confidential at all times and never flows back into the further training of the AI model.
“Festival of Innovation” at the Vision Days 2024
For two days, the ERP of the future was the focus of the Asseco Vision Days, which took place on Septbemer 24 and
25 in Asseco's home city of Karlsruhe. Under the motto “Festival of Innovation”, the participating customers and partners benefited from an extensive program of informative specialist presentations and practice-oriented user reports. They also had the opportunity to exchange ideas with other Asseco customers, product experts and thought leaders on innovative future technology. A total of more than 600 participants came together for the Vision Days in Karlsruhe. The next customer and partner conference is planned for 2026.
